DIY… Shoes?

Several weeks ago a friend sent me an IM with a link to Simple’s Stitch It shoes. It’s a pretty neat concept – they give you the materials to make your shoes and you assemble them. I was intrigued. AND they were on ridiculous sale for $4.90 with free shipping (full price of $60, which is rather much). How could I say no?

I was very excited when my Stitch-Its arrived:

It took about 3 hrs or so for me to complete the shoes. The second shoe went much faster than the first. It’s really just a matter of stitching up the heel and then binding top of the shoe to the toe and sides (that thimble really came in handy). There were also laces and Simple logos to attach, but I went plain Jane (no offense to you Janes out there):

I think they’re adorable, but unfortunately they fit rather snuggly… too snuggly. I’m a half-size wearer and often have to gamble with going larger or smaller. I lost this time, but it was fun making them!
